It is through these blank pages

I find peace

When my brain’s new favorite word: sexual assault

Plays over and over like a catchy song

I turn to writing Poems, articles, means of expression

I turn to writing

When my words feel too frail, too chaotic

When intonation, volume and pitch

Act as clogs to my expressive machine

When I feel like I’m on the outside looking in

Watching as the world moves forward as I mentally replay this trauma over and over

I turn to writing

Commas, periods, and far too many question marks
